My name is Christopher Shosted and this is the first issue of The Commuter with me at the helm.
After spending a year at The Commuter, I am ecstatic to leave my mark on this paper and the college as a whole. My predecessor, Kristen Cervenak, spent a great deal of time and effort making sure we met the standards and expectations this college deserved. That will continue under my leadership.
Throughout this semester I plan to implement several new forms of content. We will continue to cover current and upcoming campus events. However, we will be giving a greater focus to matters of national and global importance and giving you, the reader, the unique perspective that we can only find here at NCC.
We also want to provide the impetus for healthy discussion on controversial topics. That’s why The Commuter will continue to sponsor panel discussions with the faculty here at the college.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the excellent staff that has carried over from last semester. Cole Tamarri has filled my previous position as copy editor. While that job may be deceptively difficult, I am sure that he will quickly get in the swing of things.
Jerry Reardon is staying on as layout editor, and every issue he surprises me with the new and creative ways he can present our stories.
Our photo editor, Matthew Craft, is a wonderful photographer who always delivers excellent photos despite any circumstances.
Our staff writers Alexis Arnold and Shelby Ringer are fantastic writers who address their stories with an unparalleled passion.
Kristen Cervenak is also staying on as an associate editor to manage the business side of the paper and coordinate with the other clubs on campus.
With this staff comprised of both returning and new members, I am excited to present you all with a paper I hope will have unprecedented success during my tenure as editor.
Christopher Luis Shosted.
